Use Instant Messaging to have a quick meeting!
One tool that is often overlooked when working with virtual teams and
remote colleagues is Instant Messaging (IM). There are many popular free
programs around that let you set up a buddy list and then chat with these
people live when they are online.
This makes a great tool for having a quick impromptu meeting or quickly
getting questions answered. Once you set up the program and have your
other team members on your address list you can tell when they are online
and communicate with them when you need to. Most of these programs allow
you to have your own multi-person chat so it's a great way to have a virtual
meeting.
Unlike email, everyone sees the messages simultaneously that are typed
and can respond so it allows for a more real time flow of conversation.
You can also save the entire conversation as a text file to refer to later.
